My art is a reflection of my personal journey and the diverse experiences that have shaped me. Inspired by the vibrant colors of Mexico and the American Southwest, I paint abstractly using acrylics and incorporate hand-painted papers as a collage element. 

 

Having grown up in the conservative atmosphere of the deep south, I have always felt the need to resist the rules imposed on women.  This rebellion against societal norms is further amplified by my close alignment with the LGBTQIA community and my experience of raising a queer, non-binary child.  My art is a celebration of individuality, authenticity, and the joy of embracing one’s true self.  Through my art, I aim to challenge societal norms and break free from the constraints of traditional expectations.

 

By exploring themes of identity, self-expression, and personal freedom, my work invites viewers to reflect on their own journeys and find empowerment in embracing their unique identities.  Through bold colors, expressive brushstrokes, and the incorporation of collage elements, I aim to create visually captivating pieces that evoke a sense of liberation and inspire others to live their truth. 

 

Ultimately, my art is a testament to the power of self-acceptance and the beauty that lies in embracing who we truly are.  It is my hope that my work resonates with others and encourages them to embrace their own authenticity.
